One Morning
before sunrise one
July morning I packed a sketch pad and a camera in my nap sack and headed
out into the countryside. I was looking for an inspiring scene. On the
edge of the Grand River down by Kaufman's Flats, I found one.
That morning as I stood watching the sun rise, the
landscape before me reflected a tremendous sense of peace and quiet. I did
some sketches; I took some pictures but mostly I just drank in that serene
vision.
Back
in my studio I looked over that day's sketches and photographs, and
remembered the way it felt that morning on the river. Following those
remembered feelings I created a painting, the result was "A Grand
Dawn".
My desire would be that this painting conveys to you,
the viewer, a sense of that peace and quiet. "A Grand Dawn "
